Meet the People Behind Hello Roanoke

In 2019, Genya and Stan moved to Roanoke and did the thing only newcomers do: they actually looked around. Where lifelong locals saw the same old drive home, two transplants saw a downtown worth photographing and a food scene worth bragging about.

It began as a personal page, just two people sharing the spots they loved. No master plan, just real enthusiasm for a place that kept surprising them. The page grew because the love behind it was genuine.

Six years later, that personal page is a hyperlocal media platform reaching more than 150,000 locals across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok with a growing team of editors, writers, and creators behind it. And somewhere along the way, the comments filled
up with something bigger than likes. Lifelong Roanokers saying they discovered something new and small business owners, some of them fifty years in, saying they finally felt seen.

Hello Roanoke was never about being influencers. It’s about pointing a camera at a region that’s been underestimated for too long, and connecting the businesses we love with the people who’ll love them too.
